In response to the growing number of smartphone thefts, Samsung has launched advanced security tools as part of its One UI 7 software rollout. The company is urging users of Galaxy devices to activate the newly introduced Theft Protection options to secure their phones and sensitive data.
These new tools form a multi-layered security system designed to minimize unauthorized access. Features include AI-driven theft detection, biometric-based locking, remote access disabling, and critical security updates.
Samsung has confirmed a wider deployment of these features across its Galaxy lineup. Initially exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series, the capabilities have now been extended to the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 ranges. Recent foldable devices—including Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5—have also received the update.
Galaxy users can now access new options like Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. Alongside these, new anti-robbery additions such as Identity Verification and Security Delay are included. All of these can be found under the "Theft Protection" section in the device settings menu.
While leveraging Google’s base security infrastructure, Samsung’s new features extend protection to critical situations where credentials may be exposed or a device goes offline. Remote locking, biometric triggers, and time-delayed actions ensure added layers of defense.
The rollout will continue to expand across eligible Galaxy devices in phases.
